Shed Fibroids and Pounds With UFE

Many women who suffer from fibroids often put on unwanted pounds because they are carrying fibroids in their uterus, and often times that can lead to a puffy stomach or a stomach pouch. Women always ask me if they’ll lose weight after having UFE, and the answer is you’ll probably shed unwanted pounds if you treat your fibroids.

If you have fibroids, you are most likely carrying extra weight. Eliminating the fibroids or shrinking them with UFE can often lead to weight loss.

Pounds With UFE

Another satisfied patient walked in the Atlanta Fibroid Clinic recently and chatted with our front office manager Erica about her procedure. As soon as she walked in the door, Erika said, “Oh my goodness, look at your stomach. It’s so flat.” The patient who had come into the office to see Dr. Patel for her three-month follow-up appointment had the UFE procedure and was happy she no longer has to deal with the bloating or the puffy stomach.

She no longer looked like she was pregnant. As we all know, it’s not cute to look pregnant when you’re not pregnant. Her stomach is now flatter than ever, and she now has her hourglass figure back. More importantly, she’s no longer having heavy cycles or pain or suffering from fibroids.

It’s important to note the patient had been suffering with debilitating symptoms for quite some time, but she took the needed steps to improve her quality of life. It always amazes me what women will endure when they have fibroids. Women are strong and often suffer through their cycles, but the great thing is they don’t have to suffer anymore.

They can get relief with UFE, uterine fibroid embolization. The procedure takes about an hour, patients go home with a band aide, and the recovery period is about a week. UFE is covered by insurance and the Atlanta Fibroid Clinic will take just about every kind of insurance including Medicaid, Medicare, Well Care, Amerigroup, Peach state and Am Better. We also take BCBS, Cigna, United Health Care, Aetna and others. Do you want a flat tummy? Most women would say YES!
